A visit to the Walt Disney Barn and Los Angeles Live Steamers, located in Griffith Park. The Barn was built by Walt Disney to serve as a workshop for his live steam, 7 1/2” gauge railroad he had built in his Holmby Hills home.
It was moved to the current location next to the L.A. Live Steamers Railroad Museum. Lots of railroad model exhibits & drawings of his steam trains.
Open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on 3rd Sunday of month. Los Angeles Live Steamers operates 7 1/2” gauge steam, diesel and electric engines and offer rides to the public on Sundays between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. (weather permitting). Suggested donation to ride is $3.00 per person.
We will plan to picnic before going through the Barn and going over to take train rides. There are several places in the park and also at the Barn with tables. There is a lot to see at both locations. Walt Disney was a charter member of LA Live Steamers and some of his track was donated to them when his layout was torn down.
